Ambient Intelligence (AmI) is intended to provide users with systems tightly integrated with their everyday environment and activities. The goal is minimizing the need of explicit actions by users, through the continuous and distributed orchestration of information and actuation devices. With the advances in the field, AmI is pursuing growingly ambitious goals in terms of the size and integration of its smart spaces, the number of served users, and the level of adaptation to them.

Special Issue "Love & Hate in the Time of Social Media and Social Networks"

Social networks are becoming more and more present in our daily life. According to the Global Web Index, digital consumers spend an average of 2 hours a day on social media and messaging. Thus, a large body of research has been developed in the last years to process automatically social media and social networks, with the aim of understanding, discovering insights and exploiting this information. All this has contributed to the development of research areas such as sentiment analysis and social network analysis. The new communication media offer a unique opportunity to observe "in the wild" feelings and reactions spontaneously expressed on different topics, often using figurative language: sarcastic messages can be the ones that spread more virulently.

Next 28th November, we organize an Industry Day to discuss about Innovation with AI. Smart Spaces and Smart Agreements, in the context of the regional R&D project MOSI-AGIL.

Emotion and Sentiment Analysis Workshop - LREC 2016

The Emotion and Sentiment Analysis workshop is the sixth edition of the highly successful series of Corpora for Research on Emotion. As its predecessors, the aim of this workshop is to connect the related fields around sentiment, emotion and social signals, exploring the state of the art in applications and resources. All this, with a special interest on multidisciplinarity, multilingualism and multimodality.
