Across Europe, many heritage sites remain under-visited due to partial preservation and limited inclusivity. Narratia addresses this challenge by combining generative AI and immersive technologies to transform visits into personalised, dynamic stories where visitors become protagonists. Narratia transforms heritage sites into dynamic narrative ecosystems, where visitors are both explorers and co-authors. Instead of fixed facts, the past becomes an interactive, historically grounded experience, woven into the physical environment. Cultural and historical landmarks turn into immersive stages, enabling visitors to step into the past, interact with historical characters, and experience history first-hand—providing an unparalleled connection and understanding with the past.
Narratia combines creative freedom with rigorous safeguards, ensuring historical accuracy, ethical integrity, and cultural sensitivity while avoiding any trivialisation of cultural heritage. It pioneers a new product category—immersive, AI-driven interactive story- based experiences in real settings—opening markets across heritage and education and positioning itself as both a new artistic medium of AI–human co-created stories, redefining how cultural heritage is experienced and valued. Through six pilots in five countries —covering archaeological parks, medieval routes, baroque cities, UNESCO sites, and industrial heritage— Narratia demonstrates versatility and replicability, showing how ECCCH-enabled tools can revitalise cultural heritage sites, foster co-creation, and broaden access. The project aligns with UNESCO, ECCCH, and EU innovation agendas to foster innovation, inclusion, and creativity in the heritage sector. It also strengthens Europe’s leadership in ethical AI for culture, and builds a sustainable path forward through early adopters, strategic partnerships, and a business model designed for mass deployment across Europe, creating lasting cultural, social, and economic impact.
